The Kazakhtelecom JSC is planning to purchase foreign assets. "We will purchase assets in other countries," the company's Chairman of the Board Askar Zhumagaliyev said at the meting of the State Meeting for Informatization and Communication on 19 January, Interfax-Kazakhstan reported.
"The program has been developed and submitted to the Samruk State Holding for approval," he said.
According to Zhumagaliyev, Kazakhtelecom plans to take part in privatization of the Tajik Tochiktelecom state enterprise and other potentially increasing assets in Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Belarus.
Moreover, the company is interested in purchasing operators in Russia.
Kazakhtelecom, the leading communications operator in Kazakhstan, takes dominating position in the Kazakh telecommunications market. The state-owned stocks (52%) are presently managed by Kazakhstan Holding on State Assets Management Samruk.
