First Version of ‘Popular Computer’ project to Complete

Azerbaijan, Baku, 30 June / Trend corr. S.Babayeva/ Azerbaijani Communication and IT Ministry is to complete to work out the first version of the project 'Popular computer', directed to provide the poor with computers.

"We have taken into consideration all the proposals and are to complete the project," the Ministry said.

However, the Ministry did not detail the exact date of the project.

The key target of the project is to provide the poor with computers with long term credit under low interesting rate.

A special Task Group has been created in the Ministry with participation of Intel and Microsoft to implement the project.

As soon as the Task Group will approve the first version of the project it will be submitted to the country for consideration.

Within the framework of the project Microsoft will render licensed software and Intel - corresponding equipment on the privileged grounds.

According to the Ministry, three or four computers fall per each 100 people in the country. The project will enable to increase the number in five times.

Ministry is to implement the project as a pilot in one of the regions of the country.
