Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences considers Korean Institute's proposals to introduce biometric passports

The Institute of Information Technologies of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences considers the proposal of the Korean Polytechnic Institute to introduce biometric passports in Azerbaijan, director of the Institute of Information Technologies of the Azerbaijani Academy of Sciences, Rasim Aliguliyev, told Trend .

Cooperation envisages implementation of tasks to create the future Azerbaijani biometric identification system. It deals with use of identification of biometric parameters of human beings (retinal, fingerprint, etc.).

The Institute of Information Technologies holds talks with the companies proposing decisions to create biometric identification systems. These are ready solutions for border control points, registration passport offices, telecommunications solutions and equipment for making passports, microchips, etc.

Computers identify two lines in identity cards and passports that meet the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization in Azerbaijan today.

The passports of new generation containing microchips, will have more information about the owner.

Each Azerbaijani citizen will get its identification number and will be automatically placed in a database of the internal affairs and security bodies, migration service, justice and tax inspection.

It will allow controlling border security, fighting against illegal migration and organized crime.
