The "Azerbaijan Education Network" project finished second at the Cisco Networkers Awards 2010, Educational System Informatization Department head Samir Mammadov said.
The project is implemented by Cisco partners AzEduNet and ULTR. Azerbaijan competed against the "Kuwaiti Information Network" and "Jordanian National Broadband Network" projects.
The Jordanian "National Broadband Network" took home the first place prize.
The contest in Bahrain March 29 was held for developing market economies among Cisco partners.
"Azerbaijan Educational Network" is realized by AzEduNet under the State Program on the Education System's Informatization in 2008-2012. The project creates a high-speed corporate intranet network uniting the schools and organizations of the Education Ministry.
