The Azerbaijani Research Center for Data Problems will launch the ICANN At-Large Program by late 2010, Director Yashar Hajiyev told Trend.
The project is being coordinated with ICANN.
The program will allow Azerbaijani end-users to participate directly in ICANN activities, such as contributing to domain name and Internet address formation, participating in online ICANN elections, and coordinating the private sector's Internet activities.
"The program is necessary to inform ICANN about further issues emerging in the Web space in Azerbaijan," Hajiyev said. "The program is actually an ICANN subcommittee representing the interests of end users. The representative office in Azerbaijani will hold local forums where decisions will be taken and then voiced at the ICANN annual forum."
