Azerbaijan postal operator connects Khazar district’s fourth postal branch to COLVIR system

Azerbaijan postal operator LLC Azerpoct completed works on connection of Khazar district's fourth postal branch to the COLVIR system, Azerbaijani Communications and Information Technologies Ministry said today.

According to the Ministry, financial services will be provided through the Service Department, and in 20 post offices. At present, the Customer Service Department already provides services for currency exchange.

Introduction of financial services in branches and subsidiaries of postal operator will be carried out in phases in capital's post offices, and at the regional level. Appeal of the branch network on readiness to provide banking services will be considered on an individual basis, after which the Central Bank of Azerbaijan will grant the appropriate permissions.

Azerpoct has all legal rights to provide financial services to the public and today the operator is allowed to render five of the seven existing financial services. These include opening and managing email accounts, money transfers, issuance of debit cards, transactions for currency buying and selling on customers' order and collection of cash and other valuable resources.

Next year provision of two more additional services will be considered. They include accepting deposits and issuing credit cards.

The operator's banking services will be provided through an automated corporate information system, to which more than 700 postal service offices and branches of the expected 1,200 have already connected. About 200 units of the total number of branches and offices connected to the system have already received permission from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan to provide financial services to the public.
