Iran's Guardian Council disapproves merging of 3 ministries

The Guardian Council does not approve the merge of 3 ministries into one ministry stating it is contradictory to constitution; however, the final decision will be announced to parliament this week, daily Donya e Eqtesad reported quoting Guardian Council Spokesman Abbas Ali Kadkhodai as saying.

'The Guardian Council believes merge of Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (Ministry of I.C.T) into Ministry of Infrastructure which also includes 2 other ministries is against the constitution,' he said.

Iranian Parliament approved formation of Ministry of Infrastructure merged from 3 Ministries of Road and Transportation , Housing And Urban Development and Ministry of I.C.T.

Iran police chief Ismail Ahmadi Moghadam also stressed the combination of Ministry of I.C.T into new ministry has negative effect on police performance.

The new ministry will have the administrative power of Ministries of Road and Transportation, Housing And Urban Development, Ministry of I.C.T.

Previously, ministries of Housing and Transport merged, while the Commerce Ministry was given to subordination the Ministry of Mines and Industries.

The government decided to merge the Oil Ministry with the Energy Ministry, while Labor Ministry is merged with the Welfare and Social Security Ministry.
