Swiss company OnAir could potentially use the resources of Azerbaijan's first telecommunication satellite Azerspace, the president of Azerkosmos, Rashad Nabiyev told reporters on Tuesday.

"Negotiations have already been held and the resources of the satellite can be used by OnAir after its launch into orbit" Nabiev said. He added that the satellite was designed to meet more than Azerbaijan's needs.

"Only 20 per cent of its resources will be used to meet the Republic's needs with the remainder sold on the international market." Nabiev said.
Today, 39.5 per cent of the resources of the satellite operator have already been leased by the Malaysian group MEASAT.

"Resources of Azerbaijani satellite will be used by the Malaysian company for the provision of telecommunication services and broadcasting" Nabiev said. "The launch of the satellite is scheduled for November-December."

The French Arianspace will pull the satellite into the orbit. The US Orbital Sciences Corporation is the manufacturer and the orbit position at degrees east longitude is in its shared use according to an agreement with MEASAT.
