The blockchain technology will be used to register copyright in Azerbaijan, the Intellectual Property Agency of Azerbaijan told Trend.
The introduction of this technology based on the DRM (Digital Rights Management) system, which will be used to detect online copyright violations, is expected before the end of the year.
The blockchain technology is different in that it distributes the database and allows all users and copyright holders to participate in the DRM system. This technology actually returns collective management to the mode of personal rights management, which, as it was said earlier in the Agency, is the best option in copyright.
Currently, more than 10,000 works of authorship have been registered in the DRM database, and about 2,000 works – in the folklore database. All copyright-protected items (content) have been digitized, and watermarks have been introduced to distinguish the original from the illegal copy.
The system of online copyright regulation of several blocks. It provides for the organization of identification and protection of content, management of rights, which is necessary for recognition of legality and search of the content.
The DRM technology will allow for detecting the copyright violations and taking appropriate measures to prevent them.
