Cable operators in Azerbaijan are switching to an EPG (Electronic Program Guide) service of the local “Azerizone” company, Huseyn Huseynzade, Head of the company, told Trend.

Many cable operators had obtained the following service from Russia’s “EPG Service” company, which was the sole provider of the said service in Azerbaijan for many years.

"The annual market volume is estimated at about $30,000. On average, each cable operator had spent about $1,200 for using the program guide. Currently, there are about 25 operators on the cable television market, 12 of whom are already purchasing EPG services from us, at a very favorable price. We expect to connect two more large operators, and then fully meet the market needs by connecting the other parties as well," said Huseynzade.

EPG consists of an on-screen menu that displays a schedule of television and radio programs with the function of interactively navigating the content by time, title, channel, genre, etc., using a remote control. A brief summary is also given for each section of a given TV program.
