Georgia introduces new regulation on activation of roaming services

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 21

Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgia has introduced a new regulation, which implies new requirements for Georgian operators to connect roaming services, Trend reports via Georgian media.

The new roaming regulation will come into force on January 1, 2022. Companies must approve the roaming limit in advance, and after it expires, the service will be disabled.

"According to the amendment, the obligatory financial limit will be set by agreement with the client. In case of expiration of the limit, the service will be suspended, and the client will not be charged additionally," said the Communications Commission.

Subscribers will also be able to control their spending on mobile internet services. The company is obliged to provide subscribers with information about service limits.

The Communications Commission introduced another new provision that prohibits the automatic activation of new paid services and packages without the consent of customers.
