Russian company talks most widely spread cyberattacks

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 4

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

Social engineering, or phishing, remains one of the most widely spread cyberattacks due to rather a low level of collective "cyber immunity" in the society, Russian Qrator Labs company's Founder and CEO Alexander Lyamin told Trend.

According to Lyamin, people are still very vulnerable to the tricks of fraudsters: they easily withdraw money from their accounts, take credits and give all the funds to the cyberattackers.

"The overall level of cyber awareness should still grow. In terms of danger level phishing is followed by DDoS attacks, which periodically change places with phishing, taking the first position in the ranking. In third place there are hacks with further data encryption and extortion," he said.

Lyamin emphasized that phishing has been firmly holding first place in the ranking of attacks and fraudulent activities for the past few years.

“This also includes phone fraud. Like DDoS attacks, it’s directed primarily at financial organizations and payment systems,” he noted.

“Additionally, in 2021, the remote learning industry also “distinguished itself”, since education switched to an online format and became more susceptible to attacks," stressed the CEO.
