Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr. S. Babayeva/ An Azerbaijani delegation headed by Ali Abbasov, Azerbaijan's Telecommunication and IT Minister has departed for USA with a working visit, a source in the Ministry has informed Trend. The visit is expected to last from February 24 till March 4, 2007.
Within the forthcoming visit, the Azerbaijani Minister is expected to take part in the summit of the Global Alliance on the development of information and communication technologies (GAID) to be held in Saint Clara. The Telecommunication Minister is expected to make a report about the existing situation with IT in Azerbaijan , reforms and perspectives. Then, the Azerbaijani delegates will take part in an American business-forum to be held in the Berkeley University , where the participation of
the prominent scientist-cybernetic, author of Fuzzy Logic Theory, Director of BISC (Berkeley Initiative in Soft Computing), Honored President of BFSAJ (Biomedical Fuzzy Systems Association of Japan), Professor of the Columbian University, Member of the U. S. National Academy of Development, U. S. National Engineering Academy, Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Honored Member of the Paul-Sabateur Academy (France), U. S. State University, Dortmund University (Germany), Toronto University (Canada), and other well-known authoritative institutes and organizations, Lutfi Zade. During the forthcoming meeting, the world experience on introduction of IT into the spheres of science and education will be discussed. Moreover, meetings with leading figures of Worlds leading IT corporations - Microsoft, Cisco Systems, etc are expected to be held as well.
On March 1, the second Azerbaijani-American IT business-forum will be held in San-Jose. During the event, the foundation of a regional innovation - as a priority of Azerbaijan 's economy is expected to be discussed. Mr. Abbasov is expected to make another report on this topic as well. Elchin Aliyev, Tahir Mirkishili, Igor Yakovenko - the Heads of Siman, Ultra, and AZEL correspondingly, as well as the Chiefs of the Azerbaijani representative offices of Microsoft and Cisco, Vladimir Tchaykovskiy and Ilyas Naibov-Aylisli, President of the Azerbaijan Internet Community, Galib Gourbanov. Within the visit, the Azerbaijani party is expected to sign Memorandum "On Cooperation" with the University of California of Los Angeles (UCLA) and the San-Jose State University (SJSU ). The forthcoming memorandum will envisages opinion exchange between the parties, rendering assistance in preparing and training high-skilled staff in the IT sphere, implementation of joint projects, possibility for Azerbaijan's students' studying in the above-mentioned American universities on lax conditions.
