Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Babayeva / Presently the worldwide turnover of money being transferred via posts amounts to nearly $300 bln. The world posts should work on increasing this figure, said the Director General of Universal Postal Union, Edward Dyane, at the press conference dedicated to the opening of the Strategic International Forum.
However, according to him, presently the service of postal transfers is not available in all countries and departments and sometimes the tariffs are too expensive for postal transfers. In this regard, the Director General paid special attention to the efforts of Russian posts within the development of the international financial systems of the Universal Postal Union.
According to the information provided by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan, over the first quarter of 2007 the number of postal transfers via Azerpocht State Enterprise increased by 40% and amounted by 1.7 times (AZN 2.9mln).
