The State Committee for Tourism of Uzbekistan made a proposal to grant an up to one-month non-paid registration for foreigners arriving in the country, the Uzbek Novosti.uz media outlet reported on April 25.

The procedure currently costs $20 for the entire duration of the entry visa. The CIS countries’ citizens have to pay $5 for a period of time from three days to six months, or $10 for seven months or more.

If adopted, the proposal will result in a free monthly registration. It is expected that the innovation will attract new visitors to the country and popularize Uzbekistan among foreign travelers. Another important undertaking may be the introduction of an online registration form for incoming tourists.

Earlier, the president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev ordered to simplify the procedure for registration of foreign tourists. Uzbekistan is planning to introduce the electronic visas since July 1.
