The number of Russian tourists who visited Turkey over the past 16 years (2002-2017) increased by 4.9 times, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey told Trend.
In 2017 alone, Turkey was visited by 4,715,438 tourists from Russia, according to the ministry.
The ministry noted that the share of Russian citizens in the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey in 2017 was 14.55 percent.
The ministry also noted that in 2017, 4,621,361 tourists from Russia arrived in Turkey via air transport, 67,588 tourists by road and the remaining 26,489 tourists by rail and sea.
