Uzbekistan and Qatar may open direct flights between large cities of the two countries, Uzbek media reported.

The delegation of Qatar, led by Head of the Legal Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdulaziz al-Kuvari, and representatives of the Foreign Trade Ministry of Uzbekistan held corresponding talks on July 17.

“The sides underlined existing potential for development of exports, namely delivery of a number of goods to Qatar, such as cars and trucks, electrical goods, chemicals, as well as fresh and processed fruit and vegetable products. Particular attention was paid to the discussion of the transport and communication system. The sides suggested establishing direct flights between the major cities of the two countries,” the ministry noted.

Since April 14, 2018, Uzbekistan Airways and the Russian S7 Airlines has begun to operate flights from Tashkent and Namangan to the Russian cities of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Khabarovsk and Vladivostok.

Starting from June 30, Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) opened direct flights from Baku to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

On Aug. 2018, the Russian S7 Airlines may start carrying out regular flights from Moscow to Tashkent.

Moreover, by the end of 2018 a number of travel companies from China plan to organize charter and direct flights from Chinese cities of Chongqing, Loyan, Xian to the cities of Uzbekistan.

Thus, the geography of flights to and from the cities of Uzbekistan will significantly expand in 2018, encompassing new directions that will contribute to the expansion of the tourist flow.
