Iran’s Hamadan region can become one of the famous tourism destinations in the world, Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili said at the 40th UNWTO Affiliate Members Plenary Session in Hamadan, IRNA reported.

He said that there are 16 people from Iran (including three from Hamadan province), in the UNWTO, which brings together 557 countries, and this reflects the positive cooperation of Iran with the UNWTO.

“Representatives from 27 countries are taking part in the meeting held in Hamadan,” he said. “The purpose of holding this meeting is to increase the number of members and attract companies. I hope that the Iranian companies participating in this meeting will join the UNWTO.”

He added that many tourists are traveling for cultural purposes.

For the strengthening of cultural heritage, it is necessary to use new technologies and scientific potential of different universities, because competition in tourism is very serious, he said.
