The number of visitors from Thailand to Georgia has grown by 12 times, Trend reports citing Georgian media outlets.

If in November 2018, 145 people came to Georgia from this country, in November 2019, the number of visitors increased up to more than 1,900.

From January through November this year, Georgia was visited by over 10,000 Thai citizens, which is more than twice as much compared to the same period last year.

Thai citizens can enter Georgia without a visa and stay in the country for a year.

Since April 2019, a simplified entry regime into Thailand has also entered into force for Georgian citizens; they can obtain a visa upon arrival in the country. Georgian citizens can stay in Thailand with a tourist visa for 15 days.

Since December, Thai airline Thai Air Asia X begins to carry out direct charter flights on the route Bangkok-Tbilisi-Bangkok. Flights are designed to deliver tourists to Georgia during the New Year holidays.

Flights will be operated during the winter season on an Airbus A330 aircraft. In particular, flights are scheduled for December 25, 27, 28, 29, as well as for January 1, 2 and 6.

On October 21, the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency issued a Thai airline permission to carry out two charter flights, and later their number was increased at the request of the carrier.

Diplomatic relations between Georgia and Thailand were established on June 21, 1992.

Over the past period, bilateral relations between countries have intensified and are especially actively developing in the field of economics.
