Uzbekistan will start production of Volkswagen cars at Jizzakh free economic zone in July 2020, Trend reports with reference to Uzavtosanoat.
Uzbek Uzavtosanoat and Volkswagen Group signed an agreement on organization of light vehicles' production on the basis of Jizzakh Automobile Plant Ltd in the country's Jizzakh free economic zone on March, 2020.
"The production capacity of the plant will be up to 20,000 vehicles per year. The first model will be Volkswagen Caddy," the message said.
Currently, the Jizzakh Automobile Plant is at the final stage of construction. The premises of the main part of the plant and the office have been completed and are ready for operation.
Moreover, a number of dealer enterprises, which will cooperate with Jizzakh-Auto LLC have been identified. Sales of Volkswagen Caddy are planned for July 2020.
"Each project of the dealer enterprise was approved individually and in accordance with the corporate concept. Now we are working on the construction of new dealer centers according to Volkswagen standards - all of them will be equipped with modern branded equipment to provide quality service to customers," said the message.
In addition, a special program to train employees of Jizzak-Auto and dealerships, in accordance with Volkswagen global standards, has been developed.
