Data on cargo shipment from US via Turkish ports in 1H2020 announced

Cargo transshipment from the US through the ports of Turkey surpassed 12.5 million tons from January through June 2020, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

During this period, 457,385 tons of cargo were shipped from the US by ships flying the Turkish flag, while ships flying the flags of other countries moved over 12.1 million tons of cargo.

According to the ministry, no cargo was transported by ships flying the US flag during this period.

During the specified period, the volume of transshipment of goods in transit from the US through the Turkish ports made up 77,208 tons.

In 1H2020, the volume of cargo movement via Turkish ports amounted to 179.6 million tons.

Meanwhile, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 14.3 million tons.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to 6.9 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 158.3 million tons.

Over 36.1 million tons of cargo were transported through the ports of Turkey during the first six months of this year.

In June 2020, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to 28.1 million tons. At the same time, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 2.4 million tons.

The volume of transshipment of goods through the ports of Turkey by ships flying their countries’ flags exceeded 1 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – to 24.6 million tons.

During the reporting month, 5.4 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey.
