The forecast for 2020 volume of cargo turnover via railways between Kazakhstan and China was achieved earlier than planned, Trend reports citing Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Kazakhstan Railways).
Despite the difficult conditions associated with the spread of coronavirus infection, railway cargo transportation increased by 11 percent over 11 months of 2020 as compared to the same period of last year.
The record for the average daily exchange of freight trains was also set at the Kazakhstan-China border. Thus, 18 trains per day were transferred through the Dostyk-Alashankou border crossing, and 8 trains per day through the Altynkol-Khorgos border crossing this summer.
This is compared to 16 trains per day through the Dostyk-Alashankou border crossing and 5 trains per day through the Altynkol-Khorgos border crossing.
Next year, Kazakhstan Railways is planning to take measures to further develop transportation activities, conditions have been created, including infrastructural ones, to increase the volume of cargo, both domestically and in the international Asia-Europe traffic.
In cooperation with shippers, various issues arising in the process of railway transportation, including international ones, will be resolved.
