By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Kazakh investments have been made in Georgian ports, specifically, in Batumi oil terminal, which is managing the Batumi Port infrastructure, Giorgi Jakhutashvili, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Georgia, told Trend.

"Although the infrastructure of this port is mainly designed for oil products and the resources for processing dry cargo are almost exhausted," he noted.

According to Jakhutashvili, Poti port has a clear prospect of development in the medium term and Anaklia port will probably be developed in the future.

"Utilization of the middle corridor is directly linked to the development and use of port infrastructure, however, the latter alone can do nothing unless the capacity of land and Caspian transit infrastructure between Georgia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan gets equal," he added.

As he said, a good platform for this has been set up in the form of Trans-Caspian Transportation Route (TMTM) organization and with the lifting of pandemic restrictions there is also the expectation for business activation.
