Kazakhstan boosts volume of passenger transport

A total of 578.7 million passengers were transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in June 2021, which is 8 percent more than in June 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the volume of passengers transported over six months of 2021 amounted to 2.9 billion people, which is 54.6 percent less year-on-year compared to 6.4 billion over the same period of last year.

Thus, the majority of the passengers were transported to Kazakhstan’s Almaty city. The number of passengers transported in the city amounted to 160.06 million people in June and 808.8 million people over six months of 2021, which is 44.1 percent more and 42.5 percent less than during the same period last year, respectively.

Almaty city is followed by the Kostanay region with 55.7 million people transported in June 2021 (an increase of 14.4 percent compared to June 2020). The number of passengers transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 276.05 million people, which compared to 534.03 million during the same period last year, indicates a 48.3-percent decrease.

Pavlodar region takes third place country-wide by the passengers transported in June 2021 (45.7 million people, down by 13.8 percent). The number of passengers transported in the region over the period from January through June 2021 amounted to 247.7 million, which is 38 percent less than during the same period last year (399.3 million people).

The least passenger volume was recorded in the Mangystau region. The transported passenger volume stood at 2.5 million in June 2021, which is 65.5 percent more than in June 2020. The volume of passengers transported over six months of 2021 was 13.03 million, which is 43.7 percent less year-on-year.
