Iran reaches increase in load/unload operations at its ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 9. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports increased by 10.9 percent, in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2022), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, about 12.8 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. Of this, 6.49 million tons were loaded and 6.26 million tons were unloaded.

“About 4.54 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 1st month, which is an increase of 3.1 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, about 2.46 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and 2.08 million tons were unloaded. The loaded products decreased by 6.7 percent, while unloaded products increased by 17.7 percent, compared to the same month of last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In addition, 2.43 million tons of essential products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned month, which is an increase of 14.7 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 197,000 tons were loaded and 2.23 million tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, about 766,000 tons of metal products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 1st month, which is an increase of 17.6 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 694,000 tons were loaded and about 71,500 tons were unloaded.

“At the same time, about 1.74 million tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. This is an increase of 7.5 percent, compared to the same month of last Iranian year. Of this, 1.55 million tons were loaded and 196,000 tons were unloaded,” the statistics said.

Within the 1st month, 38,800 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports. This is an increase of 28.3 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 3,190 tons were loaded and 35,600 tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, 528,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 1st month of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 106.5 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 389,000 tons were loaded and about 139,000 tons were unloaded.

Furthermore, about 67,800 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, paper, and wood materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 1st month, which is an increase of 133 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 2,450 tons of goods were loaded and 65,300 tons were unloaded.

Over 736,000 tons of small and assorted products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the same month. The loaded/unloaded products increased by 63.5 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, about 329,000 tons were loaded and 407,000 tons were unloaded, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 1.91 million tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 1st month, which is a decrease of 2 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, about 880,000 tons of container products were loaded and 1.03 million tons were unloaded.

Moreover, about 5.34 million tons of goods were exported and 3.29 million tons were imported through Iranian ports in the 1st month of the current Iranian year.

Also, 379,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 358,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for transit within the mentioned month.

According to the statistics, 596,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 2.39 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for cabotage in the 1st month. Also, 177,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 139,000 tons were unloaded for transshipment.

“Over the 1st month, about 6,070 tons of cargo were loaded and 78,400 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for other purposes,” the statistics said.
