The EU and Kazakhstan should develop partnership to solve international problems," Vice President of the European Parliament Miguel Angel Martinez said after the meeting with the Kazakh parliamentary delegation headed by Deputy Chairman of the Majilis, co-chairman of the Parliamentary Cooperation Committee "Kazakhstan - the European Union" Sergey Dyachenko, Kazinform reported.

"Kazakhstan is a very important country for the EU. I believe that, Kazakhstan and the EU should work together, become real friends and partners to participate in resolving the international problems," Martinez said.

The EU is Kazakhstan's largest economic partner. Roughly 50 percent of Kazakhstan's foreign trade and more than a third of foreign investments in Kazakhstan's economy fall to the EU. The Kazakh-European foreign trade turnover hit $50 billion in 2011. Moreover, EU countries invested some $65.7 billion in Kazakhstan's economy from 1993 to 2011.
