BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 5. The external inflationary background for Kazakhstan remains unfavorable, Trend reports citing Kazinform.

This was stated by the Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan Galymzhan Pirmatov at the plenary session of the Senate (upper house of Parliament).

According to him, the macroeconomic situation is developing this year against the background of the deterioration of the geopolitical situation and the growth of volatility in the global financial and commodity markets.

Due to the tension in the world, supply chains have been disrupted, as a result of which inflationary pressure is increasing.

At the same time, it is assumed that world food prices will remain at a high level both in 2022 and in 2023. Against the background of rising prices of food, raw materials, fuels, lubricants, and gas, inflation in the EU and the US continues to break records, and in Russia, it reached 16.7 percent. In these conditions, developed countries are already tightening monetary conditions, the head of the National Bank said.

According to him, in this regard, the external inflationary background for Kazakhstan remains unfavorable.
