BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 17. The Swiss-funded “Sustainable Economic Development in Kyrgyzstan”, phase 2 (2021-2023) is helping Kyrgyz farmers to increase their incomes, a source in the Embassy of Switzerland in Kyrgyzstan told Trend.

So far, more than 1,300 jobs, both seasonal and permanent, have been created in Kyrgyzstan within the framework of this project

"Nearly 500 Kyrgyz agricultural producers increased their incomes by approximately 35 percent, as well as increased their yields by at least 20 percent and sold their products by almost 40 percent higher prices than the non-project farmers," a source in the Embassy of Switzerland in Kyrgyzstan reports.

In total, around 15,000 people have benefited from project activities in the project regions.

The main objectives of this project for the current year are to:

- further improve incomes of Kyrgyz farmers

- create more jobs in the regions of Kyrgyzstan;

- increase the outreach to farmers to improve yield quality and quantity by introducing resource efficient sustainable practices.

Notably, the Embassy of Switzerland in Kyrgyzstan mentioned that the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Swiss Development Cooperation (Switzerland) and the EU intend to support by co-financing the current Kyrgyz-Swiss-German Green Economy program with additional funding from June 2023 until mid-2026.
