Kyrgyzstan reveals tourist arrival figures

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 13. Kyrgyzstan welcomed more than 6.14 million foreigners from January through August 2024, Trend reports.

The data was disclosed during a meeting of the National Tourism Development Council chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of the Ministers Edil Baisalov.

It was reported that in 2023, the total number of foreign visitors reached 8.56 million, a notable rise from 6.91 million in 2022.

Tax revenues from the tourism sector for the first half of 2024 amounted to 1.617 billion soms (approximately $19 million). For comparison, the total tax revenue for the entire year of 2023 was 2.7 billion soms (about $31.7 million).

Additionally, the country exported tourism services worth $479.7 million in the first half of 2024, a slight increase from $471.1 million during the same period last year.

Investment in fixed capital within the tourism sector reached 4.177 billion soms (approximately $49.1 million) in the first half of 2024. This represents an increase of 1.3 billion soms ($15.2 million) compared to 2.84 billion soms ($33.3 million) in the first half of 2023.

As of mid-2024, approximately 135,800 entities were engaged in tourism activities across Kyrgyzstan.
