BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 13. Small island developing states (SIDS) have shown leadership by setting ambitious targets despite limited resources, said COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev as he addressed the COP29 Leader's Summit of Small Island Developing States on Climate Change in Baku, Trend reports.
Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, COP29 has been set up to be an accessible conference that supports your participation and elevates your voices to the highest levels. We look forward to building a true partnership during COP29 and beyond," he said.
Babayev pointed out that Azerbaijan stands ready to work with SIDS. "Together, we can move forward in solidarity toward a greener world".
"Regarding the NCQG, we have been clear that it must address the needs and priorities of developing states, as well as the schemes and policies of the frontline. We have also heard about the importance of detailed, qualitative evidence. To deliver on our COP negotiating priorities, we have repeatedly brought parties together to build consensus, and we have already seen progress on access issues. We will continue to raise the importance of accessibility with the leaders of international financial institutions and multilateral development banks at COP29," the president added.
