BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 13. We need innovative solutions and fresh investments to accelerate the energy transition, said Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan and CEO of COP29 Elnur Soltanov as he addressed a global climate action high-level event, Trend reports.

"I would like to highlight a few key priorities, from scaling renewable energy to enhancing climate resilience, from nature-based solutions to gender-responsive initiatives, we need a unified approach that addresses the challenges of today while building a better future for all. One of the critical areas we must focus on is aligning the efforts of non-party actors with the ambitions of national governments," he said.

According to Soltanov, the alignment between voluntary actions and governmental policies is essential for the effective implementation of nationally determined contributions and national adaptation plans.

"I urge all stakeholders here today, governments, international organizations, businesses, and civil society to make bold, decisive commitments. We need innovative solutions and fresh investments to accelerate the transition. This is a time for leadership and action. Let us rise to the challenge and deliver on the promise of a sustainable world for future generations," the CEO pointed out.

He further noted that Azerbaijan is proud to host COP29 and be part of this global event.

"We are committed to fostering inclusive, multilevel, and cooperative action. As we move forward, let us keep in mind the core message of this event. Bold climate action from every sector of the real economy is not only desirable, it is essential," Soltanov concluded.
