BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 13. Azerbaijan is ready for leadership, cooperation, and action in the fight against climate change. As Trend reported on Wednesday, President of COP29, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Mukhtar Babayev said in the address to participants of the Troika High-level Dialogue, "Our Roadmap to Mission 1.5 towards a future of shared prosperity," that was held within the COP29 Summit in Azerbaijan's Baku.
"We must transform our aspirations into deeds and our obligations into accomplishments. I am assured that under the guidance of the Troika, we will construct a future that is sustainable, equitable, and acceptable to all. Azerbaijan is prepared for leadership, collaboration, and initiative. It is imperative to advance collectively, ensuring that the legacies of COP28, COP29, and COP30 epitomize significant action and enduring influence. Collectively, we can maintain global warming at 1.5 degrees Celsius, so securing global sustainability as the foundation for an improved future for subsequent generations," the appeal says.
The address was read by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chief Negotiator of COP29 Yalchin Rafiyev.
