The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Kubanychbek Omuraliev is our interviewer for today.
The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) told Trend that Azerbaijan's hosting of such a conference as COP29 is a source of pride for the Turkic world.
He observed that COP29 stands as a pivotal gathering for the entire tapestry of the Turkic realm.
“At present, leaders of the world's states, including Turkic states, have assembled in Azerbaijan.
Two important documents related to green energy were signed at the meetings of the OTS. One of them is the Turkic Green Vision, and the other is the establishment of the Green Council,” Omuraliev said.
The Secretary-General also emphasized that within the framework of COP29, a meeting of the Ministers of Ecology and Agriculture of the OTS will be held.
Omuraliev also remarked that Azerbaijan, the gracious host of the gathering, orchestrated the conference with the finesse of a master conductor leading a symphony.
The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) started in Baku on November 11.
The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is an agreement signed at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992 to prevent dangerous human interference in the climate system. The acronym COP (Conference of Parties) means “Conference of Parties” and is the highest legislative body overseeing the implementation of the Framework Convention on Climate Change.
A total of 198 countries are parties to the Convention. Unless the parties decide otherwise, COP is held annually. The first COP event was held in March 1995 in Berlin, and its secretariat is based in Bonn.
