BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17. Two key issues will take center stage during the second round of negotiations between Iran and the US: Iran's nuclear program and the removal of sanctions imposed on the country, Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, told reporters, Trend reports.

According to Gharibabadi, the focus of the upcoming round of talks will not be on drafting a detailed text. Instead, the discussions will center around defining frameworks and clarifying which steps should be taken and which sanctions should be lifted.

Gharibabadi emphasized that the drafting of a detailed text can only begin once both parties have agreed on the frameworks and agenda.

"Iran is confident that an agreement on the frameworks and agenda can be achieved in the second round. While this is undoubtedly a complex and challenging task, it is not impossible. Particularly if the other side enters the upcoming round with the same approach as in the first, meaningful progress is entirely feasible," he stated.

On April 12, indirect talks between Iran and the US on Iran’s nuclear program were held in Muscat, Oman. The discussions, led by Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi and the US Special Representative for Middle East Affairs, Steve Winkoff, were described as constructive and based on mutual respect. The next round of talks is scheduled for April 19.
