BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17. The Azerbaijan-Slovenia Business Forum has officially kicked off in Baku, Trend reports.
The forum is attended by Tural Hajili, Deputy Executive Director of the Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), and Tanja Drobnič, Secretary of the Internationalization Promotion Sector of Slovenia.
Speaking at the event, Tanja Drobnič, Secretary of the Sector for the Promotion of Internationalisation of Slovenia, said Azerbaijan is a key partner for Slovenia, serving as a gateway to Central Asia.
"In this context, cooperation between our countries is especially important given the current global conditions. Slovenia offers high-quality infrastructure for foreign companies. We have a strong and stable economy. This forum presents excellent opportunities for Slovenian businesses to enter the Azerbaijani market and expand their partnerships," she said.
Mitja Blaganje, Secretary General at Slovenia’s Ministry of Economy, Tourism, and Sport, added that Azerbaijani companies operating in Slovenia would receive full support at the state level.
"Slovenian companies have achieved remarkable success around the world thanks to their expertise in engineering, technology, manufacturing, and other fields. In sectors such as aerospace, IT, and construction, Slovenia has established itself as a European hub. We’ve also made significant progress in the pharmaceutical and automotive industries, and we maintain strong international partnerships in these areas," he said.
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, invited Slovenian businesses to actively participate in the reconstruction and development of the Karabakh and East Zangezur regions and to explore investment opportunities there.
"When we talk about comprehensive development between Azerbaijan and Slovenia, we also have to mention the potential in tourism. The rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and historical landmarks in both countries make them attractive destinations," he added.
Bayramov also emphasized the importance of expanding economic and trade ties between the two countries, encouraging mutual investment, and fostering regional cooperation beyond just the capitals.
"For the past 20 years, Azerbaijan has played a key role in ensuring Europe's energy security. Following the memorandum of cooperation signed between Azerbaijan’s SOCAR and Slovenia’s GEOBRIN on gas supply, Slovenia joined the list of countries importing Azerbaijani natural gas in August 2024," he said.
Slovenian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon said there is significant potential for economic cooperation between the two countries.
"As Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, I am committed to strengthening our relationship further. Today’s event is proof that we are ready to take our partnership to the next level," Fajon said.
She also noted that Azerbaijan is the most dynamically developing country in the region and continues to attract investment with its promising economy.
"Slovenia has an open, export-oriented economy. There are many areas where our countries can expand and deepen cooperation," she said.
