BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 13. Today Brazil will submit the full version of the country's Nationally Determined Contribution to the UNFCCC Executive Secretary Simon Stiell, Brazil's Minister of Environment and Climate Change Marina Silva said during the "Troika High-level Dialogue: Our Roadmap to Mission 1.5 towards a future of shared prosperity", Trend reports.
“Brazil reaffirms its commitment to the Paris Agreement and its determination to lead climate action towards COP30 in Belém. Today we will hand over the full version of Brazil's Nationally Determined Contribution to the UNFCCC Executive Secretary Simon Stiell. This document reflects Brazil's vision for 2035, as well as the policies and measures we consider necessary to achieve our goals,” Silva said.
The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) started in Baku on November 11.
The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is an agreement signed at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992 to prevent dangerous human interference in the climate system.
The acronym COP (Conference of Parties) stands for “Conference of Parties” and is the highest legislative body overseeing the implementation of the Framework Convention on Climate Change. A total of 198 countries are parties to the Convention. Unless otherwise decided by the parties, COP is held annually. The first COP event was held in March 1995 in Berlin, and its secretariat is located in Bonn.
