The transport and logistics center is being built in the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management said in a message.

According to the message, there will be a warehouse complex with telecommunication and cargo handling equipment in the transport and logistics center.

Turkmenistan is able to establish transport and logistical centers throughout its territory, especially in the areas adjacent to the state borders.

Earlier it was reported that a solemn opening ceremony of a new international port will be held in the Caspian city of Turkmenbashi in early May 2018, designed to ensure a higher level of trade and economic cooperation between the Asian and European countries.

There will be a loading terminal, a bulk cargo terminal, as well as a shipyard in the complex. The total area of the multifunctional port will be more than 1.400 million square meters.

According to the plan, numerous coastal infrastructure facilities have been built here since 2014, which include roads with overpasses with a total length of 3,915 meters and railways with a total length of 29,890 meters.

The project worth $1.5 billion is being implemented by Turkey’s Gap Insaat company. The annual capacity of the port will be 17-18 million tons.
