Upcoming Uzbek-Korean meetings’ agenda discussed in Tashkent

Issues of upcoming Uzbek-Korean meetings, aimed to develop multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, were discussed on Thursday by South Korea's ambassador to Uzbekistan Jong Tae Wan and representatives of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, the press service of the Foreign Ministry said.

Issues of upcoming Uzbek-Korean meetings, aimed to develop multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, were discussed on Thursday by South Korea's ambassador to Uzbekistan Jong Tae Wan and representatives of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, the press service of the Foreign Ministry said.

Islam Karimov is expected to visit South Korea in September. This will be the eleventh meeting of the two presidents since 1992.

The previous meeting of Islam Karimov and Lee Myung-bak, held in August 2011 in Tashkent and agreements on joint projects in various sectors of the economy signed during the visit have given new impetus to bilateral cooperation.

Currently, the total volume of South Korean investments in Uzbekistan's economy is more than $5 billion, including $2 billion mastered. In 2011, bilateral trade amounted to $1.6 billion.

In Uzbekistan there are more than 350 companies with the South Korean capital in light industry, chemical industry, food industry, commerce, engineering and metalworking, in housing and communal services, public health, tourism and services.
