In 2017, Uzbekistan allocated 49.3 billion soums for construction and reconstruction of medical and social institutions, which is twice as much as a year earlier.

These data were given during a meeting on healthcare sector development, chaired by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. During the meeting, Mirziyoyev noted evident changes in healthcare sector, the president's press service reported.

This year, Uzbekistan has set up 793 round-the-clock rural family clinics housing emergency medical centers and day hospitals.

Special attention is paid to medical and social services. The provision of needy people with rehabilitation devices increased by 90 percent. The provision of wheel chairs, hearing aids and other means increased twofold.

The funds allocated for purchase of medicines and medical products increased by 3.5 times to 821 billion soums. The volume of foreign investments attracted to healthcare sector is growing.
