Uzbekistan and Tajikistan will establish 18 representative offices at the interstate border, RIA Novosti reported on April 25.

The corresponding agreement between the two governments on the activities of border representatives was ratified by the lower chamber of the Tajik parliament on April 25.

“Tajikistan will create seven border offices, Uzbekistan – 11. The representative offices will promptly resolve emerging disputes directly in place,” - First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of National Security of Tajikistan Mansurdzhon Umarov said, addressing members of the parliament.

The agreement was signed during the visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tajikistan in March 2018.

The length of the Tajik-Uzbek state border is more than 1,330 kilometers.
