Uzbekistan significantly increases production of cotton fiber

Uzbekistan increased the production of cotton fiber from January through November 2020 by 39.31 percent compared to the same period in 2019, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, the volume of cotton fiber Uzbekistan produced for 11M2020 amounted to 510,700 tons.

Uzbekistan’s enterprises increased output of cotton yarn over the past eleven months by 49.3 percent compared to the same period in 2019.

Uzbekistan’s enterprises produced 407,100 tons of cotton yarn from January through November 2020. The growth compared to the same period in 2019 amounted to 9.1 percent.

Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan’s 10M2020 production of cotton fiber increased by 45.04 percent compared to the same period in 2019, amounting to 457,600 tons. The volume of cotton produced for 10M2020 increased by 49.3.

According to the decision of the government, the country has completely abandoned the export of cotton fiber since 2019. At the same time, in March 2020, the government order for the cultivation of cotton fiber was also abolished. Instead, cotton fiber will be grown by cotton textile clusters and farmers.

In addition, the starting price of the cotton fiber is determined by the seller based on the value of the New York Mercantile Exchange futures quotation.
