Largest share of Uzbekistan’s trade GDP falls on retail trade

Retail trade accounted for the largest share of the GDP (Gross domestic product) for trade in Uzbekistan during the period from January through April 2021, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, the share of retail trade in the structure of GDP, excluding trade in motor vehicles reached 68.8 percent, while during the same period last year it amounted to 68.4 percent.

It is reported that at the end of 1Q2021, the share of trade in the GDP of Uzbekistan amounted to 7.9 percent.

The share of wholesale trade (excluding trade in motor vehicles) amounted to 24.8 percent (1Q2020 - 25 percent), wholesale and retail trade in motor vehicles and their repairs - 6.4 percent (6.6 percent).

Earlier State Statistics Committee reported that the share of transportation and storage in the GDP of Uzbekistan from January through March 2021 amounted to 6.7 percent.

It was noted that the largest share in the structure of GDP of the transportation and storage industry fell on road transport amounting to 58.5 percent, while during the same period last year it accounted for 53.1 percent.

At the same time, the share of pipeline transport during the reporting period amounted to 17.4 percent (18.5 percent in 3M2020), railway transport - 12.2 percent (12.9 percent), auxiliary transport activities - 9.5 percent (9.9 percent), air transport - 2.4 percent (5.6 percent) of the total value added of this industry.
