BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 30. The volume of Uzbekistan's total external debt as of January 1, 2022, amounted to $39.6 billion, which is an increase of 16 percent compared to the same period of 2021, Trend reports via the Uzbek Central bank.
The volume of the external public debt increased by 11 percent, reaching $23.7 billion, while the debt of private companies reached $15.8 billion.
According to the Central bank, the total external debt of the country tends to grow. Analysis of changes shows that the increase in public external debt is associated with the attraction of new external borrowing to finance government programs for the development of regions and sectors of the economy, while in the private sector growth is observed mainly due to the attraction of borrowed funds by commercial banks and other sectors of the economy.
