Mottaki denies reports on candidacy for parliament

Office of former Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki rejected reports on his participation in upcoming parliamentary election, ISNA reported.

Some media have already reported that Mottaki is to compete in Iran's next parliamentary vote.

"Remarks attributed to Mottaki are not correct and basically he has not discussed anything about his candidacy for the election," his office said.

The office also added that any news about Mottaki will be only declared by himself, his office or official sources.

Former Iranian Foreign Minister was dismissed in October while on an official visit to Senegal following an order by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Chief Ali Akbar Salehi replaced Mottaki as acting Foreign Minister.
