Iran signs Reshadat oil field development contract

The Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) has been awarded a 264 million euro contract for drilling 30 wells in the Persian Gulf's Reshadat oil field, Mehr News Agency reported.

The IOEC will be responsible for all aspects of the first upstream project in the Reshadat field.

The Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) seeks to increase oil production from the Reshadat oil field by 40,000 BBL/D by 2012. The construction of the largest oil drilling platform in the Persian Gulf is finished and will soon be operational.

The Reshadat (Rostam) oil field was discovered in 1965, some 110 kilometers south of Lavan island. It was developed by the Iran-Italy oil company (IMINICO).

Iran plans to increase the oil production in Reshadat oil field up 70,000 barrels per day by the end of the Fifth Development Plan (2010-2015).
