Phases 15 and 16 of the Iranian joint South Pars gas field will start operating by late February, the Mehr news agency reported quoting managing director of the South Pars Gas Company Mousa Souri as saying.
"Operations to complete refineries and offshore facilities for Phase 15 and 16 are 80 percent completed and the onshore refinery is 82 percent finished, Souri said.
Gas from Phase 15 and 16 refineries could be injected into the national pipeline network by early fall.
Up to now, $2.5 billion of the $4.8 billion dollars needed to develop the two phases has been invested in the project.
Iran seeks to extract 50 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, 80,000 barrels of gas condensates, 400 tons of sulfur and over a million tons of liquid gas from Phase 15 and 16.
