The newly formed cabinet of ministers of Iranian president Hassan Rouhani, has made a decision regarding the staple goods, that have been freezed at the country's customs, IRNA reported.
According to the report, after the cabinet meeting, Rouhani spoke to journalists and said that a special decision has been made regarding clearing the staple goods from customs.
Rouhani also expressed hope that during the following months, people would not be facing any problems regarding staple goods.
The cabinet ministers commissioned the Central Bank and the concerned ministries to adopt the necessary measures for unloading the cargo ships and customs clearance of the dire necessities of the people.
Head of Export Commission of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines said previously that Iran may face face food shortage in the Iranian months of Sharivar and Mehr (August 23-October 22), considering the disagreements between the Central Bank of Iran, Industry, Mine, and Trade Ministry, and the Customs Administration of Iran.
Currently 10,000 containers of food stuff and medicines are stuck at the country's customs, while another 5,000 containers are ready to be shipped to Iran.
Previously, Issa Kalantari, head of the House of Farmers, who served as the Minister of Agriculture from 1997 to 2005 had predicted that in autumn the price of staple goods will increase.
According to the Iranian media outlets, some 80 ships carrying wheat and staple goods are waiting for customs clearance due to foreign currency problems.
According to some officials, the import of some goods has faced problems after the administration announced that it will no longer use a USD exchange rate of 12,260 rials (the USD official rate figure that changed early July) for the import of staple foods.
The new government also annulled 10 ratifications of the former government which had allocated special bonuses for real and legal entities, or allocated excess amounts of money to the approved budgets for different organizations.
Based on an order issued by the president, the executive organs were also commissioned to do all they can within 100 days aimed at improving the living conditions of the public, and announce their plans for the purpose to the cabinet within one week.
