The ban on using mobile phones by Iranian MPs has been put on the parliament’s agenda, Gholam Reza Kateb, chairman of the Iranian Parliament Rules of Procedures Codification Committee, said in an interview with ISNA, Trend reports.

He said that the committee approved the draft by the member of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Hossein Naqavi Hosseini about 2 months ago on the ban on using mobile phones by MPs, adding that 140-150 MPs have signed this draft.

This draft is on the agenda of the parliament, he noted.

“This ban may be effective in improving the legislation’s quality,” he said.

Before entering the parliamentary sessions, the MPs will be able to leave their phones in a specified place, he added.
