(RIA Novosti) - The Kyrgyz government announced a tender Friday for a stake in the Kara-Baltinsk plant, Central Asia's largest uranium enrichment venture, beginning August 28.

The Kyrgyz State Property Management Committee said 72.28% of the company's shares will be offered at an initial price of 155.424 million soms (about $4 million), reports Trend.

During the initial phase of the tender, the government will only examine the business plans proposed by bidders. Price proposals will be considered later.

Among the government's requirements of companies wishing to bid are experience working with radioactive materials, relevant skills and financial stability. Potential investors will also be required to start production of uranium concentrate within three months of the purchase, and to modernize the plant.
