Secretary of the Iranian Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers Habibollah Ansari has said that in the first 10 months of the current Iranian fiscal year (Mar. 21, 2014 - Jan. 20, 2015), the country produced 35 percent more refrigerators than the same period last year.

He added that Iranian producers exported worth $4.9 million of the refrigerators they produced during this period.

Ansari stated that around 140 factories produce refrigerators across Iran, ISNA reported Feb. 27.

He said that in the 10-month period mentioned, the factories produced over one million refrigerators, whereas the number was 819 thousand for the same period last year.

Ansari added that in recent years, Iranian producers have achieved a great deal in making their products energy-efficient.

Most of our products produced since three years ago come in grades B or even A in terms of energy efficiency, he said.

He said that Iranian-made refrigerators cover over 70 percent of the domestic market's demand, which stands at 1.8 to 1.9 million refrigerators per year.

On Feb. 14, Ansari said that in the past seven years, Iran's domestic appliance export has been on the rise.

"Iranian goods find the most consumption in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Sudan markets, but they are also exported to countries such as Italy and the UK as well as central Asian countries," he said.

"Iran annually exports over $250 million worth of home appliances," Ansari stated on Dec. 27.

"This year, customs' tariff for importing home appliances reached 85 percent from the previous figure of 50-55 percent. This created a good opportunity for domestic manufacturers to boost their production," he stated.
